dA really should get the naming devices correct if they're going to have it. Something like keeping the names locked but letting the user themselves go back to one that worked better. BUT I will be fair and claim no knowledge of what has to be coded. I think dA was simply trying to make sure that no one switches names every three or four hours.
Well, it made me wait 6 months, which is fair, but being able to go back to my old name would be nice, especially if using my old name still gets me to my current one by way of re-direct.
Do you know what it would take in coding to do that? I honestly have no idea. The fact that we can't just go back to old ones makes me think that the site just wasn't meant to have so many users. (Especially that the changing usernames is still so new to the place.)
That's just a stipulation they wanted to use. Different sites do different things. It's possible that they have it coded in such a way that renders going back impossible, but I severely doubt it.
If they coded it that way and refuse to adjust it, they might not know how to redo it (possible, maybe the one that coded it left/was fired when they dropped so many people). I mean, it makes sense enough for a smaller site.
Funny you used your own username as the example of the BlockComics. It shows that in the message center, but when you click to the actual status post it shows your current username instead, hehhehe.
Yeah, like, my old usernames belong to me still, I just can't use them ever again, which I think I neglected to read when I changed it, cause I was like "If this doesn't suit my fancy I'd like to go back to Jetstreamx. Well, now I'm JetBlack0X. Which is fine. A lot more personal, but a tad disappointing.
